Update on traffic signal problems near Sainsburys

Several residents have contacted my office to complain about excessive congestion caused by traffic signal problems in and around the Sainsburys car park in the Town Centre.  I’ve asked the questions and have been informed that Herts County Council (HCC) is aware that there is a fault with the Traffic Signals in Beechen Grove at the junction Albert Road South. It appears that the fault is on the BT line and this has affected the computer which operates the timing of the traffic signals.

They are getting an engineer on site today and are looking to make some manual ‘tweaks’  to the signals to try and help. It appears that on the last two Saturdays the problem has been at its worst – so we’ve asked the HCC Signals Engineers to make the necessary changes to ensure we do not have a repeat problem this weekend coming!

For information, all highway faults, including traffic signal problems can be reported direct to HCC via their email address:   www.hertsdirect.org/highwayfaults or telephone 0300 123 4047
